PUMP HOUSE ANNOUNCES LATEST TENANT
The Pump House, Shrewsbury’s ground-breaking Environmental Technologies Centre has added a new name to the list of tenants, Marches Energy Agency (MEA) is the second major letting to be announced.
MEA is one of the leading UK Energy Agencies in the UK consulting on energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The agency has recently launched a number of new projects including ‘Project Carbon’, a carbon auditing, reducing and offsetting service (www.projectcarbon.org), ‘Carbon Forum’, an educational service and ‘Marches Renewables’, offering advice and assistance for small-scale renewable energy projects.
The relocation is eagerly anticipated by staff members, not only for the new building’s fantastic environmental credentials, but also for the opportunities its riverside location may offer them.
The move into The Pump House later this year offers MEA the opportunity to really showcase the technology they promote to their clients. The building will include high levels of insulation and solar hot water and electricity, alongside many other energy-saving features. With projects ranging from advising businesses, and householders about energy efficiency to helping local schools and other community groups set up micro-renewable schemes, this building will be an ideal home for the organisation in the years to come.
Ever keen to work creatively, staff at MEA are also busy thinking of other innovative ways they can use the building and its surroundings. Nancy Davies, Director’s Assistant at MEA said:
“We’re thrilled by the environmental rating of this building and the energy-saving techniques it uses. The central location with its proximity to public transport links is fantastic, as is the opportunity to work alongside other environmental organisations in what we hope will become something of an environmental hub for this region”.
Speaking about the announcement, Destination Shrewsbury Manager David Griffiths said:
“The borough council has worked with MEA in the past on sustainability issues. The agency has a good track record and we are delighted to welcome them to this project.”
